| Halfway by Arcee Santiago |
It was thus engraved in stones of marble
In a similar way as stars are clustered in twilight hours
That we are to scale at some point to meet up, or even to stumble
For us to say what’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is now yours
It is neither being about you nor being about me alone to make this able
But is all about Us now, without strings attaching and without restraining bars
Sometime when the dusk and the daybreak is at sight
That precise moment when darkness still embraces the dawn
You chanced upon me and asked for a ‘light’
In that special place where I am to leave and you are to sojourn
Being neither friends nor strangers then, but promising lovers we might
Be meant to level upon anything to meet halfway, all devoid of scorn
Two Seasons proved it so right
We are both each other’s disease and cure
A best friend and an enemy on each count of fight
Through the span of madness and appeal to sanity we are sure
To seize vengeance through stealth and without a fright
And settle differences owing to hearts with love so pure
down the cross-roads
Of love and hate, of joys and sorrows
From the ecstasy of fulfillment of one’s passion, to the agony in the death of one’s dreams
From the nightmares of hell then back to heaven’s bliss
Take steps though pace unhurried, spirit is unwavering
See you there, to the place partially reached by us both
Nevertheless completed in compromise
In the most faultless thing done unfinished
We’ll meet there on our so-called halfway’s ground.
A poem for me by Arcee...
Wish you never sailed away...
One day your journey would come to a better shore..
but if the winds of faith blows your sail back to my shore
you would find the same old sand and water of before..
